Description
The Sangre de Cristo mountain range is the southernmost range of the Rockies. To the west of the range sits the San Luis Valley. Here you are surrounded by mountains on all sides. This unspoiled area has wide open valley land with antelope and wild horses roaming through. Native grasses and brush blanket the valley. As you climb in elevation the brush turns to pinon trees, and then to pine and aspen. This land sits at 9500 ft and is filled with lush foliage and tall trees. The aspen will turn beautiful colors in the fall displaying gold, burgundy, and orange down the mountainside.
This is a full 5 acres of land giving you space to build. This is off-grid, remote land and with this much realestate you will avoid any crowding neighbors or noise from traffic, not that there is much up here. The parcel sits in the southern SDC Ranches less than 40 min from Fort Garland and 30 min from San Luis. Jaquez Rd. takes you to the property and is maintained in the fair weather months. The road will not be plowed in the winter preventing access. If you want an “off the beaten path” property, this is a great investment for you.
There are thousands of acres of hunting land and hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and utv or Jeep trails throughout the area. Rito Seco Park is just 15 minutes from the property and gives you the opportunity to enjoy picnicking, walking trails, wildlife viewing, and panning for gold! The San Luis Valley is known for its preservation of the original Colorado lifestyle such as gold panning, riding the Cumbres and Toltec scenic railroad, sliding the sand at the Great Sand Dunes, and hiking to Zapata Falls to see the natural alpine desert waterfall. The land provides much of the entertainment and hobbies for locals. The Rio Grande River runs through Alamosa and parts of the valley and the mountain reservoirs give plenty of opportunity for fishing and water recreation.
Being remote and away from the busy world allows you to unplug and unwind. The laid back attitude is contagious. You may just start stargazing the Dark Sky Park or staring lazily up at the clouds sweeping over the mountain tops. There is almost no commercialization throughout the valley. Quaint towns litter the valley and provide immediate necessities and local eateries but you won’t have tall advertising signs, condos, shopping malls, and concrete parking lots ruining the landscape. You will have unspoiled views of the Colorado mountains and 100 mile views across the valley.
San Luis and Fort Garland have Dollar Stores, gas stations, restaurants, hardware stores, liquor stores and dispensaries. Alamosa is the “hub” of the valley and provides big box stores; chain stores, hotels, and restaurants; medical facilities; entertainment; and an airport with regular flights to Denver. The big cities of Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Denver are all less than 4 hours over the range.
You can own a piece of Colorado and enjoy life at a slower pace. You can get back to nature and once again be in awe of something as wondrous as the Rocky Mountains. $25,000 is a small price for such a big return. Owner financing is available with $7500 down and payments of $375 for 60 months.
