Description
These views are my favorite. From this spot you can see every mountain range surrounding the San Luis Valley; the Sangre de Cristos, The Ute, and the San Juans. You can observe the vast Colorado valley in every direction without any obstructions. You don’t have to worry about condos, hotels, or commercial buildings blocking the view.
Many people are in the market for mountain property. I prefer the valley for several reasons, the first being the views. When you are up in the mountains among the trees, you see trees. I came to Colorado to gaze at the purple mountains majesty. As you can see from the pictures, there are layers and layers of mountains on every horizon. The second is accessibility. This land is right off Hwy 159, 16 minutes from Fort Garland and 42 minutes to Alamosa. You won’t need off-road vehicles to get home and will have access year round on well maintained roads. The third reason is the ease of the land. It doesn’t take much to clear this land for a camper spot, a cabin foundation, and driveways. The sagebrush can be leveled with minimum effort. It is practically turnkey.
The area is so unique. The people here prioritize peace and quiet. The serene landscape and slow pace of life make it a one of a kind destination. The tranquility that you feel here is unlike anything else. It is the escape you didn’t know you needed. With 4.70 acres you won’t have to worry about neighbors, crowding, traffic, noise or light pollution. You have privacy and freedom to enjoy your surroundings.
The valley is littered with small towns that provide supplies, local artistry, eateries, and entertainment. Fort Garland has gas stations, groceries, Dollar General, and a hardware store. Alamosa provides big box stores, restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, and shopping. The city festivities and events are sure to please. I highly recommend the farmers markets, roadside stands, and locally owned restaurants.
There are several tourist attractions in the area such as The Great Sand Dunes, Zapata Falls, and the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. Outdoorsy types will enjoy natural hot springs, wildlife refuges, national parks, and the Rio Grande River. Boredom won’t be an issue with hiking, climbing, kayaking, paddle boarding, river tubing, hunting, fishing, off-roading, and lots of exploring to do. As you can see, there is something for everyone in the San Luis Valley.
