Description

See the sunshine and blue skies in these pictures? This is what Costilla County Colorado looks like more than 300 days a year. The northerners come to escape the brutal winters and temps but still have a winter season. The snow fall will cover the tree tops and cap the peaks but not bring dreary gray skies along with it. The southerners come up in the summer to escape the fiery heat but still want to enjoy warm weather and outdoor activites. The San Luis Valley has all four seasons and my favorite is when the trees change in the fall and the air gets crisp. The orange, reds, and golds that cover the mountain sides are breathtaking. It is perfect for a fire outside the camper or cabin while taking in  the beautiful scenery.

You can pull your camper or RV out and enjoy a temporary retreat or you can build and become a Colorado local. There is plenty of variety in this area. Fort Garland is less than 10 minutes from the property and provides all the immediate necessities. Even the best off-gridders need supplies! You can get gas, groceries, and hardware in minutes but then be back to your private oasis to enjoy the peace and quiet. Alamosa is less than 30 minutes and provides more “small city” luxuries. There you can find big- box stores, hotels, restaurants, medical facilities, a top notch college, shopping, and entertainment.

You have more than 5 acres of Colorado land to call your own. This gives you enough space to not have neighbors, traffic, or noise anywhere close. The serenity of the mountains and this quiet haven will be just what you need to relax and reset. So many people are looking for a change of lifestyle, a slower pace, and it’s right here in Colorado. This piece of land has sagebrush ground cover and taller trees. You can see the Sangre de Cristo mountains lining the horizon. It’s a beautiful landscape regardless of the direction.

There is plenty to do in the small towns that litter the valley. The Great Sand Dunes are just up the road. The highest dune in all the Unites States and one of the top ten tallest dunes in the world are right in your backyard. This geological phenomenon is a sight unlike any other. You feel transported to another planet when visiting. Zapata Falls is another treasure in this valley. It hosts a 30 ft waterfall in the middle of the San Luis desert. These are two of the “must see-s” on everyone’s list. There is also the alien watchtower, a crocodile rescue, and train tours that are unique to the area. Outdoors enthusiasts love the hiking, biking, off-roading, and exploring that you can do out here. Climbers travel to the area for the two 14ers, Mt. Blanca and Mt. Lindsey. Water sports are popular due to the Rio Grande RIver running through Alamosa and the snaking through the valley. Kayak, swim, paddle board, fish, and boat in the river or many reservoirs. Hunters love the game found in these parts and the thousands of acres of land available. Shoppers love the artisan shops, farmers markets, flea markets, and boutiques. There is truely something for everyone.

You can lay claim to your piece of Colorado for $10,900 or owner financing is available with $1000 down and $250 per month for 60 months.
